1-piece Heat Induction Sealing Liners

Induction sealing is the process of bonding thermoplastic materials by induction sealing. This effect is widely use in the packaging industry for the sealing of containers with foil liners (IHS liners). The closure is supplied  with a liner already inserted, which is quite convenient for fillers.

A typical induction liner is multi-layered and consists of three main components:  backing material, aluminum foil and heat-sealing layer.  The liners can be 2-piece and 1-piece. When 2-piece liner is used, the backing is separated from the foil and remains in the cap; in case of 1-piece, nothing is left in the cap and the liner bonds to the container together with the backing. The choice between 1-piece and 2-piece solution depends on particular requirements.

There are many variations – different materials of the backing and its thickness; bonding polymers for the sealing layer depends on the container’s material (glass, PET, HDPE etc.); the backing can be laminated or non-laminated; extra layers may be placed between the foil and the backing for specific reasons, etc., etc. Liners producers can offer customized solutions matching these or that applications.

However, the most popular type of 1-piece HIS liners is the EPE-backed foil. The liners often have pulling tabs (the number and the shape of tabs may be different) that makes the peeling them off easier and helps to fix the liners inside caps.

There is a possibility of a customer’s print on the backing of the liners; contact our managers for details, if interested.
